Get Your Guide Integration

Getting Started

In order to setup the integration with GetYourGuide with WaveRez, first your trips that you'd like to offer on GYG need to be built out on WaveRez and not showing "Disable Affiliate Booking" on WaveRez.

Next you'll need an account and trips set up on GYG. In order to do this, please refer to GYG. Here's a help article on this: https://www.getyourguide.com/c/how-to-list-your-activity-on-getyourguide-step-by-step/

You'll need your Supplier ID from GYG. This can be found under Your Name in the top right hand corner of GYG. Click on your name, then click Account Settings. Your Supplier ID will be shown in the top right hand corner of this screen.

Connecting WaveRez to GYG

On WaveRez, once logged in and viewing the right hand menu, click on Integrations, then Get Your Guide.

Input your Supplier ID from GYG and click save.

Next we will create the options for each trip on WaveRez for GYG. Select the trip that you want to link from the drop down. These are your trips on WaveRez. If you do not see a trip listed on this drop down, it's most likely Disabled for Affiliate Bookings under Settings > Resources > Trips > General.

Select the City from the drop down.
Type in the Tour Description
Click Add Tour Option
Select the Ticket name from the "Tickets" drop down.
Type the Name in the Name field. (This ideally would be the same exact name used in the "Tickets" drop down
Click Save

Repeat this process for all tickets as needed. Once the tickets have been created on WaveRez, there will be an External Product ID shown for every ticket type that was created as shown in the screenshot above. These ID's are unique and you'll need them on GYG so save them.

If you have a lot of tickets and ID's, I'd recommend creating a spreadsheet for ease of use.

Get Your Guide Set Up

Once you have a product on GYG created, you should have "Options" for this product which should be the same as your "Tickets" in WaveRez. For example, 1 Hour Rental, 2 Hour Rental, etc. These will be shown on Manage > Products > See Details > Scroll Down > "Options". If you don't see any "Options" under your product on GYG, then you'll need to click "Create new option" and you'll follow the guide linked above from GYG on how to do this.

When creating or editing an existing option on a product on GYG that's being connected to WaveRez, you'll eventually reach "Connectivity Settings" in GYG for each Option (shown in image below). You'll need the External Product ID provided from WaveRez in the previous steps above in order to link this ticket on GYG to the correct ticket on WaveRez.

Important Things to Know

Pricing Categories on GYG

GYG has two different options when creating an "Option" aka ticket type in their system. The options are Price per person or Price per Group/vehicle. You may use either option depending on what's applicable for your business.

If you use Price per Person here, then on WaveRez the ticket's Age Type must be set as Adult.

If you use Price per Group/vehicle then the ticket age type must be set as Group.

If "Group" or "Equipment" is used on WaveRez, but on GYG it's set to Price per person, this will cause issues with the integration. If age type is set to "none" on WaveRez, you will get an error message when trying to set up the ticket (aka option) on GYG.

The difference between these two options largely affects how the tickets are shown to your customers on GYG. The wording used on WaveRez's Age Type will be what is shown on the live listing as shown below.

Capacity on GYG

When on the Availability and Pricing section for GYG, you'll eventually land on the Capacity tab. This section will ask you Min and Max # of participants. Availability is limited by the availability of WaveRez, but setting this number too high may cause issues on GYG. We recommend that if you have a business structure where only 1 ticket is available per equipment (you're a rental business) then the max number here should be the max equipment count for this activity. If you're business structure allows for more than one ticket to be sold per equipment (you're a tour operator or similar), then you set this max # to the max amount of that type of ticket you have for sale. This would normally be the max amount of seats you all per that equipment.

Add-Ons (optional)

Add-ons on GYG are the same as Options on WaveRez. We do not currently support this feature. It's planned for further development and deployment.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter this error message while trying to set up your ticket (aka option) on GetYourGuide, most likely the age type on WaveRez under Settings > Resources > Trips > (Your Trip) > Tickets is not set up correctly. Please see "Pricing Categories on GYG" above in this article for instructions.
