How to Apply a Card Hold

Card Hold authorizes (holds) the customer’s card without charging it. The amount should then be manually processed through WaveRez upon the customer's arrival. Card Hold only authorizes the card and does NOT formally charge the card.

You can apply a card hold internally only during order creation or for existing orders. I'll provide the steps below:

1. During Order Creation (Initial Booking)

Steps:
Begin creating a new reservation as normal.
When you get to the Contact/Payment Information Tab, scroll to the Payment Options section (last item on page)
Click “Change”, then select “Card Hold”.
Description confirms: “This option will hold the customer’s card and will be processed through WaveRez on arrival manually (or the payment method can be switched to another one when the customer arrives).”
Proceed to finalize the booking with the hold in place.
Use case: When you're holding the card at the time of booking, before confirming the reservation.

2. For an Existing Order

Steps:
Open an existing confirmed reservation.
Click “Add Payment Type” from the Payments Tab of the order details
In the modal, choose “Card Hold” from Payment Options.
Click “Confirm” to place the hold.
Use case: When the reservation already exists and you want to apply a card hold afterward (e.g., customer didn't provide payment at booking time or switched methods).
