Add Your Activities to Google Things to Do Manually

For WaveRez partners whose Google Business Profile has no physical street address. This article explains how to add bookable activities to Google by hand.

Written by Amber Dudley

Overview

Google Things to Do is the section of a Google Business Profile that displays your bookable activities directly in Google Search and Maps. There are two ways your activities can reach it. The automated method is a structured data feed that WaveRez installs for you, sending Google your live trips, pricing, and real-time availability. The manual method, covered in this article, is entering each activity by hand in your Business Profile's Activities editor and adding a booking link customers can click. The automated feed requires your Google Business Profile to have a physical street address. If your profile has only service areas and no street address, you are not eligible for the automated setup, and you add your activities manually instead.

The two methods do not produce the same result. The automated feed powers the richer booking experience, where Google shows live availability and pricing pulled directly from your inventory. The manual method creates a simpler activity listing with an outbound booking link: customers see the activity on your profile and click through to your booking page to complete the booking. Google does not receive live pricing or availability through the manual method. Adding a booking link in the Activities editor does not enable the automated feed, and it is not a way to work around the street address requirement. The manual method is the supported fallback that gets your trips visible on Google with a working booking link when the automated feed is not available to you. This article walks through signing into the correct Google account and entering each activity. You enter activities one at a time, and each one needs its own booking link.

Who this is for: Partners whose Google Business Profile has no physical street

address. If your profile has a street address, WaveRez can install Things to Do for you automatically, and you do not need to follow these steps. Please check your Google My Business listing for a publicly listed physical address to know which method applies to you. For WaveRez installed Things To Do, please contact us at [email protected] for questions.

Step 1 — Sign in to the correct Google account

Open a browser and go to google.com. Confirm you are signed in to the Google account that owns your Google Business Profile. Click your profile picture in the top-right corner to see which account is active. If the wrong account is shown, choose Add another account or Sign out, then sign in with the email address that manages your business listing. Using the wrong account is the most common reason a partner cannot find the editing options, so confirm this before continuing.

Step 2 — Open your Business Profile

With the correct account active, search for your business name in Google Search. When your own Business Profile appears, you see a row of management options such as Edit profile, Read reviews, and Edit products. These options only appear when you are signed in as the profile owner or a manager. If you do not see them, return to Step 1 and confirm the account.

Step 3 — Open the Activities editor

In your Business Profile management options, open the Activities editor. The Activities panel opens with the heading Activities and a Basic information section, ready for you to add your first activity.

Step 4 — Enter the activity details

Fill in the Basic information fields for the activity:

  • Activity name (required) — the name of the trip as customers should see it, for example "Sunset Dolphin Cruise." This field allows up to 150 characters.

  • Description — a short summary of the activity. This field allows up to 2,000 characters.

  • Price (USD) — the price of the activity. Google notes this should include taxes and fees.

  • Visitor type — select the visitor type the price applies to, such as Adult.

Enter accurate details, because this is the information customers see on Google before they book.

Step 5 — Add the Booking URL

In the Booking URL field under Where can people book this activity online?, enter the web link where customers complete the booking for this activity. The Booking URL is required, and it is the link Google attaches to the activity so customers can book it directly from Search and Maps.

Important: The Booking URL is what makes the activity bookable. Enter the exact link for this specific activity. You can find your WaveRez booking portal link under Marketing > Booking Portal URL. Navigate through your booking portal to each listing and copy the URL to link directly to that page/activity.

Step 6 — Complete and save the activity

Finish any remaining fields, such as what the activity includes, then save the activity. The activity is added to your Business Profile and, once Google reviews and approves it, appears in the Things to Do section of your listing in Search and Maps.

Step 7 — Repeat for each activity

Repeat Steps 3 through 6 for every trip you want to appear on Google. Each activity is entered separately and needs its own Activity name, details, and Booking URL.

Expected outcome

After you add your activities, Google reviews them before they go live. Once approved, each activity appears in the Things to Do section of your Google Business Profile in Search and Maps, with a booking link customers can use. Approval is not instant, so allow time for Google to process new activities.

Troubleshooting

The management options (Edit profile, Activities, Edit products) do not appear. This happens when you are signed in to the wrong Google account or an account that does not manage the business listing. Click your profile picture in the top-right corner, confirm the active account, and sign in with the email address that owns the Google Business Profile.

An added activity is not showing on Google yet. New activities are not published instantly. Google reviews each submitted activity before it appears in the Things to Do section. If an activity has not appeared after several days, confirm that all required fields, including Activity name and Booking URL, were completed.

My profile has no street address and I want the automated setup. WaveRez's automated Things to Do feed requires a physical street address on your Google Business Profile. A profile with only service areas is not eligible. Either add a street address to your profile if your business has one, or continue adding activities manually using the steps in this article.
